Palma de Mallorca has a new metropolitan railway system. Its first trip was in April, 2007. The system is connected to T1, T1e, T2 and T3 train lines. Is the fifth metro system to open in Spain.

Palma de Mallorca metro: lines and stations

M1 Line: It is 7,2 km length, has 9 stops and it goes from Plaza de España to UIB.
Stations: Estación Intermodal de Plaza España (Intermodal Station of Plaza España), Jacinto Verdaguer, Son Costa – Son Fortesa, Son Fuster Vell, Gran Vía Asima, Son Castelló, Camí dels Reis, Son Sardina, Universidad de las Islas Baleares (Universitiy of Balearic Islands)

M2 Line: It is 8,35 km long, has 9 stops and it goes from Plaza de España to Marrachí.
Stations: Estación Intermodal de Plaza España, Jacinto Verdaguer, Son Costa – Son Fortesa, Son Fuster, Virgen de Lluc, Pont d’Inca, Pont d’Inca Nou, Polígono de Marratxí, Marratxí

Schedule and frequency:

It operates from 6:30 am to 11:00 pm. Trains run every 15 min between 6:30am to 10:30am and 1:00pm to 4:00pm and every 30 min in the rest of the day. The service stops on weekends, except for line 1 that runs every 30 min.

All the tickets need to be validated first. The cost does not change according to the distance.

  • Single Ticket: valid for one trip: 1,55€
  • Round Trip Ticket: valid for two trips in the same day: 3,10€
  • T-20: valid for 20 trips in 120 days: 16,55€ (0,83€ per trip)
  • T-40: valid for 40 trips in 45 days: 4,85€ (0,62€ per trip)
  • There is also a Tarjeta Intermodal (card) that provides benefits to citizens.

CURIOUS FACTS

Palma de Mallorca Metro is the smallest metro in Spain, it is just 16km length and has 15 stations. It also has the most expensive single ticket (1,55€) after Barcelona Metro.
