Atlanta Metro: MARTA

Atlanta, Georgia’s capital, is one of the most important and most populated of the United States.
Public transportation is mainly provided by The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA).
It’s the eighth largest rapid transit system in the United States
It started in 1971 as a bus system, but it became a network of buses connected to a rapid transit system.
It has 77 kms (47mi) of tracks, 4 lines and 38 stations of wich 12 are underground.

MARTA Rail Lines and Stations

Marta has four lines: Red Line, Gold Line, Blue Line and Green Line.

  • The Red Line: it has 19 stations. Goes from North Springs to Airport.
    Stations: Airport, College Park, East Point, Lakewood/Ft.McPherson, Oakland City, West End, Garnett, Five Points, Peachtree Center, Civic Center, North Avenue, Midtown, Arts Center, Lindbergh Center, Lenox, Brookhaven/Oglethorpe, Chamblee, Doraville
  • The Gold line: it has 18 stations. Goes from Doraville to Airport.
    Stations: Airport, College Park, East Point, Lakewood/Ft.McPherson, Oakland City, West End, Garnett, Five Points, Peachtree Center, Civic Center, North Avenue, Midtown, Arts Center, Lindbergh Center, Lenox, Brookhaven/Oglethorpe, Chamblee, Doraville
  • The Blue Line: it has 15 stations. Goes from H.E. Holmes to Indian Creek.
    Stations: Indian Creek, Kensington, Avondale, Decatur, East Lake, Edgewood/Candler Park, Inman Park/Reynoldstown, King Memorial, Georgia State, Five Points, Dome/GWCC/Philips Arena/CNN Center, Vine City, Ashby, West Lake, Hamiltong E.Holmes
  • The Green Line: it has 9 stations. Goes from Bankhead to Edgewood/Candler Park.
    Stations: Edgewood/Candler Park, Inman Park/Reynoldstown, King Memorial, Georgia State, Five Points, Dome/GWCC/Philips Arena/CNN Centerm, Vine City, Ashby, Banklhead

MARTA operates 365 days a year.

Rail service from 4:45am to 1am, Monday to Friday. From 6:00am to 1:00am on weekends.
Frecuency of 20 – 15 minutes in weekdays. 20 minutes in the weekends.

MARTA has a paratransit service for disabled people

The MARTA allows bicycles on trains and buses. At the airport there are places to lock up your bicycles also.

Connection to the airport

Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is situated 10 miles south of downtown. To get to the airport by MARTA
just get the direct train service to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. MARTA’s Airport Station,
is the last stop on the South Line. It takes only a 17-minute trip from Five Points Station.
