Bönn Statdbahn

Known as the Bönn Stadtbahn, the public transport network of the city of Bonn is an extension of the vast network of Cologne Stadtbahn,
with two lines, 16 and 18, that link both cities. This network serves Bönn and the surrounding area and consists of a system of integrated Metro (rapid transit subway – Stadtbahn)
complemented by: S-Bahn tram, U-Bahn subway and regional trains (DB).
The Bönn Stadtbahn, consists of six lines, four of which operate regularly and two, only at rush hour. The network of U-Bahn (underground) has got
12 stations and a single line. It opened on March 22, 1975 with the route between the stations Hauptbahnhof , Heussallee Stadtwerke and the
Bonner Stadwerke opera, with a total length of 9 km.

Total Stadtbahn line is 125 kilometers (of which 30 kms are of use tram) and 64 stations.

Bönn Metro Lines

Including the entire public transport system (metro, trains, trams and buses) the Stadbahn Cologne-Bönn, moves eighty million passengers a year.

Metro stations are marked with a large blue "U" and buses and trams with an "H" (Haltestelle).

Currently there are six lines in operation, although two of them just do it partially, as reinforcement.

  • Lines 16 and 18: link the cities of Bönn and Cologne. The 16 runs from Cologne to Bad Godesberg, and line 18 from Cologne to Bönn Hauptbahnhof.
  • Line 63: runs from Tannenbusch to Bad Godesberg
  • Line 66: runs from Siegburg to Bad Honnef, is known as "Telekom Express".
  • Line 67: only works on weekdays and in the morning, during school hours, runs from Siegburg to Bad Godesber.
  • Line 68: has a limited service, during the week days runs from Bornheim to Ramersdorf, but on weekends line ends at Bonn Hauptbahnhof.

Most Important Stations

Its most important station is Hauptbahnhof station, which is the main railway station, subway, train, bus and tram.

Metro Opening Hours:

The subway schedule is 4:30 a.m. to 02:00 a.m.

Frequency

Every 10 minutes during the day and 20 to 30 minutes very early in the morning and evening.

Fares and Tickets

The Bönn Stadtbahn is integrated into the tariff system VRS (Verkehrsverbund Rhein-Sieg), which also includes the city of Cologne. Prices for the city of Bönn are fare 1b. To buy a ticket all you need to know is whether we will move only within the city or neighboring cities. The price level 1b is for travel within the city of Bonn and Cologne.The fine for traveling without a ticket or unvalidated ticket is 30€

Here are some rates:

Single Ticket

  • Adult (zone 1b): 2.60€
  • Children (6-14 years old) 1.50€

Tickets can be used only for a certain period of time after validation, which in the case of a single ticket is automatic at the time of purchase.
This period depends on the tariff area acquired, and during it, you can interrupt the trip and if necessary change of transportation always flowing in the same direction. For the zone 1b it is 90 minutes.

4 Single Tickets

  • Adults (zone 1b): 9.40€
  • Children (6-14 years old): 5.70€

It can be used for 4 trips within the respective tariff area, and it’s available both adults and children.

1 Day card

Allows to use unlimited metro for a day in the tariff area, valid until 03.00 am on the day after purchase. It costs 7.50€

1 Day card for 5 people


Valid for a small group of up to five people. They can travel unlimited from 00:09 am until 03:00 am the day after in the ticket fare zone, whether they are children or adults.
Children under age 5 are free, even if the group is over 5 people. It costs 11.10€

The Welcome Card allows unlimited use of public transport in Bönn and Cologne, as well as access to more than 40 attractions and 20 museums in the region, and discounts on other attractions. There are modalities for 1 and 3 days for the price of 12.30€ and 23.50€ respectively. For groups of two adults and up to four children at a price of 16.40€ for one day.

Airport

Bonn has no airport , you have to scroll to Cologne. The Konrad Adenauer Flughafen Airport is shared for Cologne and Bönn, and is located 25 km north of the city.

It is connected to the main railway station (Zentraler Omnibusbahnhof Bonn – ZOB, Maximilianstraße, opposite Hauptbahnhof) by bus line SB 60 Airport Express, which runs every 30 minutes on weekdays and every 60 minutes on weekends. The journey takes about 30 minutes and the ticket price is 6.60€.
